Pet grooming courses can give you the education and hands-on experience you need to begin a career that allows you to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. You’ll learn to identify dog breeds, maintain grooming equipment, bathing and drying techniques, dog anatomy, basic animal grooming and patterns, and health and safety concerns.
Not for academic credit.
Although cutting dog’s hair is a primary responsibility, animal groomers do much more during the course of the day. Because groomers have a lot of contact with pet owners, good customer service skills are a necessity. Contributing to the overall health of pets, grooming includes bathing, brushing and drying the coat; cleaning their ears; trimming nails; and brushing their teeth.
Demand for animal groomers and caretakers is expected to grow by 9-13% with 63,800 new job openings between 2014 and 2024.1
